Mateen Organization, in partnership with Amman Comedy Club, launches the “Comedy Lab” project.
Mateen Foundation, in partnership with Amman Comedy Club, is pleased to announce the launch of the “Comedy Lab” project, which is the first project of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa that includes training young talents from Jordan to learn the art of writing comedic sketches, and improve the Jordanian comedy in both Amman and Irbid.
The Comedy Lab project aims to enable talented people to master comedic writing as well as Improve comedy performances. Through this project, 48 talented young men and women residing in Jordan will be trained through two training workshops in Amman and Irbid for 3 months, starting from March 2021, under the supervision of international experts specializing in improvisational comedy training from the Second City Institute of Comedy in the United States of America.
The Comedy Lab Project Funding is a gift from the US Embassy in Jordan and aims to build a new generation of comedians who will be able to spread the culture of Improved comedy in Jordan through the Amman Comedy Club, in cooperation with Mateen for Rehabilitation and Training.
Amman Comedy Club was launched in 2019 to be the first club of its kind that is specialized in instilling a culture of comedy in Jordan and the Arab world. The club trained more than 56 talents in (stand-up comedy) and satirical writing and presented 6 stand-up comedy shows during the period from September 2019 until March 2020.
