Outside AL-Mafraq in the north of Jordan, there are numerous informal tented settlements of Syrian refugees that their children, to date, have had no access to formal education. Mateen is running an initiative to not only provide them with remedial education, but to help provide them with world class education so they can catch up with their peers through hiring professional teachers. Mateen is focusing on making education available for every girl and boy in these settlements, empowering them with the needed literacy skills so they can catch up with other children their age and help them have a better future. Mateen also runs awareness events for the parents in these camps in the recreational centers. Mateen’s first recreational center has been established in March 2017 at the first tented settlement in Al-Mafraq.
